What are project objectives? Looking for project objective examples? Welcome to Bitrix24 – #1 free project objective management software used by over 10 million companies in 186 countries.
First, you’ve got to be smart about project goals and objectives. We mean S.M.A.R.T. So, when you write a project objective, it has to be Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-specific. Because Bitrix24 uses SMART methodology for all project management tools, let’s go into details.
Let’s start with a BAD smart project goal example:
Grow sales
Why is it bad? This goal is neither specific nor time-bound. While it is theoretically measurable, realistic and achievable, it’s not clear who has to do what and what you should get in the end. Is 5% a growth or does it have to be 50%?
Now, a GOOD smart project objective example:
Grow revenue by 7% by opening 20 new locations in the North-West within the next 6 months.
So, this project is specific. It states the exact number of revenue growth (7%) and how this project goal is expected to be achieved (opening 20 new locations in the North-West). It’s clearly measurable. It is likely to be achievable and realistic within a given context. Finally, there are time restrictions clearly stated – the project is expected to take 6 months.
